Chrome and Firefox are the world’s two most popular web browsers. Every day, millions of users all over the world use these two browsers to input sensitive personal data online.
Most people never think twice about doing this. But in reality, each of these two browsers features different security features that make one safer to use than the other.
In a recent trustworthiness poll performed by Sophos (an antivirus company), Firefox destroyed Chrome when users were asked which browser they trusted most. Here are the results of that test:

Firefox takes home top spot with 50.5% of the votes, while Chrome, Internet Explorer, and Safari come in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Opera and Chromium, for whatever reason, also got a good chunk of the vote in spite of their relatively insignificant userbase.
Of course, the poll only illustrates how users feel about the security of their browser instead of the actual security of their browser. Below, you’ll find a few reasons why users probably feel that Firefox is more trustworthy than Chrome.

Why Firefox is seen as being more trustworthy than Chrome

-Most people feel that Google knows more personal information than any other private corporation on the planet. It collects a lot of that information through Chrome, including page view time, your location, and other data.
-Both Chrome and Firefox are well established and open source and run on Windows, Mac, and Linux. They are the only two major browsers in the poll to run on all three major computer operating systems, which is why it’s always a two horse race between Firefox and Chrome.
-Chrome and Android are closely linked, and when you enter personal information into Chrome, it also shows up on any Android device that is also signed in to that Google account. While Google accounts are famously secure (the company has never experienced a major data leak), users may perceive this information sharing as a sign of lax security.
What do you think? If you had to choose one browser to transfer $100,000 from one bank account to another, would you go with Firefox or Chrome? Let us know in the comments below!
