fix errors on my pc

Even the most avid PC users experience errors from time to time. While some of these issues have obvious solutions, there are many instances when you are left scratching your head and wondering what your next move should be.Before you hire an expert to look at your PC, try these tips first.

Analyze the Error

Any time you experience an error on your PC, a message will pop up that explains what the error is. In some cases, you may also be given a few options on how to resolve the problem. In either case, performing a quick search online for the error code or the name of the error will allow you to quickly pinpoint the problem and find an appropriate solution.

If the error is preventing you from starting up your PC, you may need to consult an expert for help. If possible, use an error-free computer to research the error and search for possible solutions.

Update Drivers

The simplest and sometimes most effective solution for PC errors is to update your system’s drivers. It is not uncommon for an outdated driver to cause issues, especially if you have recently performed a Windows update.

If you have Windows Automatic Updates enabled, you may want to manually check available updates. Oftentimes, driver upgrades are not included in the automatic updates. Alternatively, you can visit the manufacturer’s website to download the latest drivers and firmware available. A new installation will replace any damaged files and fix any bugs that may have been associated with the previous driver.

Try Safe Mode

If you are experiencing an error due to malware, a virus or spyware, starting up in safe mode will prevent malicious processes from running. Starting in safe mode is also a good idea if a particular application continuously crashes or you are having issues getting your computer to boot up.

While in safe mode, you can attempt to fix errors that would otherwise be impossible to resolve when Windows starts normally. From here, you can uninstall programs or devices and run fixes. Safe Mode can be accessed by pressing F8 when first booting up your computer.

System Restore

In many cases, a simple system restore can resolve errors. System restore is a feature that is built into Windows and will undo any recent changes made to the system’s registry. The great news is that any photos, documents or data saved to your PC’s hard drive will remain unaffected.

New versions of the Windows operating system allows users to create additional system restore points and also to see which files will be affected by the restore. If you are experiencing frequent program crashes or are plagued by a virus, a system restore is a quick-fix that can save you a great deal of time and frustration.

Registry Cleaner

More often than not, a PC error is caused by an issue with the registry. Registry errors can cause programs to crash and in some cases, prevent the PC from booting up. Thankfully, there are many third party programs available that can resolve these issues and improve the efficiency of your PC’s registry.

These programs will perform a quick scan of your registry and detect errors caused by duplicate registry entries, temporary files or missing DLLs. After the scan has completed, you can pick and choose which errors you would like to resolve. In many ways, a registry cleaner is like an anti-virus.

Finding a great registry cleaner is not always an easy task, however. There are some programs that are disguised as registry cleaners, but instead install malware or malicious software onto the user’s PC. Rather than risk your computer’s security, it is best to stick with trusted and reliable programs. You can view the top  registry cleaners here before considering to buy one .

Fresh Windows Installation

When all else fails, a fresh Windows installation may be the only solution. Re-installing Windows can be a tedious task and one that should only be used as a last resort. There are some viruses and spyware that are extremely difficult to remove, or a Window’s system file may suddenly become corrupted. In this case, a fresh Windows installation is the only option.

Before re-installing Windows, make sure that you backup important personal files, photos and documents on a CD, DVD or external hard drive. Keep in mind that wiping out your computer and re-installing your operating system will destroy all files and information stored on your hard drive.

More often than not, a simple registry cleaner can eliminate your PC errors. If the issue is caused by a virus or malware, starting in safe mode and running an anti-spyware program should resolve the problem. A re-installation of Windows should only be used as a last resort. If you are still experiencing issues after trying the above tips, it may be time to call in an expert.
