You’ve probably heard by now that lots of Windows users are getting the new Windows 10 for free. If you’re currently using Windows 7 or Windows 8, then you should see a Windows 10 notification sitting in your system tray right now.
But what about everyone else who’s not using Windows 7 or 8? Are these people out of luck? What happens when they want to get Windows 10 for free?
Well, I have some good news: Microsoft recently revealed that anyone who installs the Windows 10 Technical Preview will get Windows 10 for free once it’s released.
So you follow these three steps:
Step 1) Sign up for a Microsoft Account and become an insider (free): https://insider.windows.com/
Step 2) Install the Windows 10 Technical Preview from this ISO file
Step 3) When Windows 10 gets released on July 29, you’ll receive an automatic upgrade to the full, free version of Windows 10
This is a great way for users of older versions of Windows to save $150 on their OS. If you’re using Windows XP or Vista and felt left out of the Windows 10 party, then now’s your time to take advantage.
