About the Search.searchtg.com infection

Search.searchtg.com is another browser hijacker that is normally bundled together with freeware and shareware. Once you notice it appearing on your screen when you open your browser, you may start to worry and  you need to pay more attention to how you install free software. Typically, hijackers travel together with program bundled with it, so either avoid installing random freeware from questionable websites or make sure to deselect all extra offers before you complete installation.

Fortunately,  the hijackers are not malicious itself unlike any other malware. Primarily, they aim to generate traffic for revenue, and in turn income, by redirecting you to sponsored websites or third parties. The redirects usually happen through search engines that the hijacker essentially forces you to use. What’s not good about it is that hijackers can sometimes lead the users to malicious unknown sites and that could result in a serious malware infection. There is no use of browser hijackers, so it’s best you get rid of the Search.searchtg.com.

Why you have to uninstall Search.searchtg.com?

Sure most users are already made aware of this but hijackers, as well as other kinds of unwanted programs, such as adware, are attached to freeware as extra offers and most often it’s hard to avoid because in the first place they are not visible.  When you install freeware, you need to opt to  Advanced or Custom settings to be able to see the added items or the programs it will install into your computer, so choose those instead of Default. Advanced will allow you the option of deselecting everything so make sure to do just that. Removing the Search.searchtg.com is much more complex and time-consuming compared to having to uncheck a couple of boxes.

After the hijacker is installed, it will immediately make some changes to your browser’s settings and set itself as your homepage and new tabs, as well as change your search engine as its default. The changes are definitely noticeable and are irreversible while the hijacker is on your system. So you have to get rid of the Search.searchtg.com and then manually change everything. Take note not to ignore the problem by switching to another browser because it will also affect all of the other ones, such as Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, and it will not go away on its own. Every search you perform has to go through a different set from one search engine, whether the search is made through the provided search box or your browser’s address bar. So always be keen and careful  of sponsored content inserted among the legitimate results because you could inadvertently redirected to unknown, unwanted malicious  pages. The Hijackers definitely do not care where you are redirected to so you need to stay alert. If you want to avoid a possible malware infection, make sure you uninstall and get rid of the Search.searchtg.com completely.
