What is YourDailyTrailer? And how does it work?

YourDailyTrailer is a browser extension that is promoted as a program that helps movie enthusiast gain access to a wide range of catalogs of films and explores trailers for soon to be released media contents. It supports Google Chrome browser and can be found on Yourdailytrailer.yournewtab[.]com and at Chrome.google[.]com/webstore/detail/your-daily-trailer/edaiejofkjoolebkceoecjgpchnfhjnf. Both of these sites claims that YourDailyTrailer is “the must-have Chrome New Tab for Movie fans!.” YourDailyTrailer is developed by APN, LLc which supports advertising networks. It may seem like a harmless program, but it is categorized as both a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and a browser hijacker for reasons that will be discussed later on.

Once it operates in your computer, it alters your browser’s settings such as the home page and the search engine that pushes you to use search.mysearch.com which is a suspicious search engine that displays sponsored content like ads, pop-ups and banners. Moreover, once you’ve added this browser extension, it reads and changes all your data on the websites you visit as well as manages your apps, extensions and themes.

YourDailyTrailer will change he layout of your new tab page so that it loads the customized version of mysearch.com which is associated with most browser hijackers. You will be forced to use and load Search.mysearch.com/?gct=tab&o=APN12074.

 

How is YourDailyTrailer distributed?

As mentioned, YourDailyTrailer is distributed on these two sites: Yourdailytrailer.yournewtab[.]com and at Chrome.google[.]com/webstore/detail/your-daily-trailer/edaiejofkjoolebkceoecjgpchnfhjnf. According to our researchers, this unwanted program is also distributed through software bundling as an add-on program found on free sharing sites. These free sharing sites, although some actually offers legitimate software, accompanies the legitimate software with suspicious programs like YourDailyTrailer. That reason alone should cause some red flags and that you must immediately get rid of YourDailyTrailer before it can do damage to your computer. it is not considered as a potentially unwanted program for nothing.

Step 1: Launch Google Chrome.

Step 2: Click the wrench icon. And from the drop-down menu click on Tools and then select Extensions.

Step 3: Under the Extensions tab, select YourDailyTrailer or other suspicious browser extensions related to it and then click on the Trash icon.

Step 4: Click on Remove button from the confirmation dialog box.

Step 5: Reset Google Chrome. To do that, click the three stripes icon located at the upper-right corner of your screen. And then select Settings.

Step 6: under Settings, look for Show advanced settings at the bottom of the page and click on it.

Step 7: Then click on the Reset browser settings button.

Step 8: After that, a dialog box pops up, click the Reset button to Reset Chrome.

Step 9: After you reset Chrome, enable the Phishing and Malware Protection in Chrome to prevent PUPs like YourDailyTrailer from infecting your computer again in the future. To do that, click Settings once again.

Step 10: Select the Show advanced settings again.

Step 11: Go to the Privacy section and check the Enable phishing and malware protection option.

Step 12: Restart Google Chrome.

 

Follow the continued advanced steps below to ensure the removal of YourDailyTrailer:

Perform a full system scan using an excellent antivirus and anti malware program like SpyRemover Pro. Turn on your computer. If it’s already on, you have to reboot it.

  1. Click OK to launch SpyRemover Pro.

 

  1. Run SpyRemover Pro and perform a full system scan.

  1. After all the infections are identified, click REMOVE ALL.

  1. Register SpyRemover Pro to protect your computer from future threats.
