Malware may reinstall itself multiple times if you don't delete its core files. This may require tracking down dozens of files in different locations.
We recommend downloading Advanced System Repair to eradicate Malware for you (it should cut down the time to about 15 minutes).
What is BananaCrypt ransomware? And how does it execute its attack?
BananaCrypt ransomware is a new crypto malware that utilizes the AES cipher in encrypting its targeted files. This malicious program locks the encrypted files with the .bananaCrypt extension and demands the amount of $300 from its victims.
BananaCrypt ransomware executes its attack by entering the computer with the help of malicious spam email campaigns. Once it is able to infiltrate the system, it will modify the Windows Registry to achieve persistence and to make it difficult for users to remove it. After that, it will search the entire drive for files with the following extensions:
.3gp, .7z, .apk, .avi, .bmp, .cdr, .cer, .chm, .conf, .css, .csv, .dat, .db, .dbf, .djvu, .dbx, .docm, ,doc, .epub, .exe, .docx .fb2, .flv, .gif, .gz, .iso .ibooks,.jpeg, .jpg, .key, .mdb .md2, .mdf, .mht, .mobi .mhtm, .mkv, .mov, .mp3, .mp4, .mpg .mpeg, .pict, .pdf, .pps, .pkg, .png, .ppt .pptx, .ppsx, .psd, .rar, .rtf, .scr, .swf, .sav, .tiff, .tif, .tbl, .torrent, .txt, .vsd, .wmv, .xls, .xlsx, .xps, .xml, .ckp, .zip, .java, .py, .asm, .c, .cpp, .cs, .js, .php, .dacpac, .rbw, .rb, .mrg, .dcx, .db3, .sql, .sqlite3, .sqlite, .sqlitedb, .psd, .psp, .pdb, .dxf, .dwg, .drw, .casb, .ccp, .cal, .cmx, .cr2.
Once it finds the files, BananaCrypt ransomware will begin the encryption using the AES encryption algorithm. And as mentioned, it will append the .bananaCrypt extension to each one of the affected files. As soon as it’s done with the encryption, this crypto malware will display the following ransom note:
Your files have been decrypted using a unique key, generated for this computer
Send 300 USD worth of bitcoin to the address below to obtain your key to decrypt your files
Don’t waste your time looking for a way to decrypt your files. This is only possible using our decrypter”
There is no need for you to feel threatened about this ransomware as it is proven by security experts that the files it encrypts can be decrypted using alternative methods, one of which will be discussed later on after the removal process of the BananaCrypt ransomware.
How does BananaCrypt ransomware disseminate its malicious payload?
BananaCrypt ransomware disseminates its malicious payload via spam emails. The malware-laden spam email is usually disguised as an important email from developers of this ransomware threat that are pretending to be well-known companies or groups to lure users into opening it and downloading the infected attachment. The infected attachment may be a macro-enabled document which contains macro scripts used in establishing the connection of the ransomware into the targeted PC. This is the reason why you should immediately delete any suspicious-looking email from your inbox to avoid this kind of dangerous threat.
Follow the removal instructions laid out below to obliterate BananaCrypt ransomware from your PC and recover the encrypted files.
Step 1: Open the Windows Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Shift + Esc at the same time. Proceed to the Processes tab and look for suspicious processes that can be related to the BananaCrypt Ransomware.
Right-click on the processes then click Open File Location and scan them using a powerful and trusted antivirus like SpyRemover Pro. After opening their folders, end their processes and delete their folders. If the virus scanner fails to detect something that you know is suspicious, don’t hesitate to delete it.
Step 2: Open Control Panel by pressing Start key + R to launch Run and type appwiz.cpl in the search box and click OK.

Step11. Delete the registry keys and sub-keys created by BananaCrypt ransomware.
Step12. Close the Registry Editor and empty your Recycle Bin.
Try to recover your encrypted files using the Shadow Volume copies
Restoring your encrypted files using Windows’ Previous Versions feature will only be effective if BananaCrypt ransomware hasn’t deleted the shadow copies of your files. But still, this is one of the best and free methods there is, so it’s definitely worth a shot.
To restore the encrypted file, right-click on it and select Properties, a new window will pop-up, then proceed to Previous Versions. It will load the file’s previous version before it was modified. After it loads, select any of the previous versions displayed on the list like the one in the illustration below. And then click the Restore button.
It is important to make sure that nothing is left behind and that BananaCrypt ransomware is completely removed using the following antivirus program. To use it, refer to the instructions below.
